Red yeast rice, raisin & walnut bread

I was at The Baker's Son to choose which baguette to buy ( they have really loads of choices),
then I saw this one being displayed near the counter.
And there's a container with cuts of the bread for taste testing.
I was curious about it so I had one piece to taste.
I found it surprisingly soft and not weird at all (ha, it did look weird with the red colour).
So I bought it home.

See how red it is~

Haikara Style Cafe and Bakery, SS15

After window shopping at Empire Gallery on last Monday, we went to this Japanese cafe which I got to know from a friend.
(check out her blog's entry)

Oh too bad, they are closed on Mondays~
啊,吃闭门羹了...

On Deepavali holiday, we went there again.
(不放弃啊~)
To avoid disappointment again, I called to make sure they're open. XD
We chose to sit near to the counter.
That's the male owner 'repairing' their broken menus.

They have a lot of Japanese magazines at a corner.
Fresh orange juice (RM6) ordered by my sis was served.

Their homemade bread and dessert corner.

Mixed salad, RM12 -tuna, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, egg mayo, cabbage, cucumber and lettuce.
Fresh ingredient, and very Japanese style.

Arrabiata pasta, RM17, with homemade mushroom soup and bread.
It's vege style, and the spicy tomato sauce is nice!
My sis was about to ask for another bread to go with it, haha~

My sumiyaki coffee RM6, comes with a milk in a tiny stainless steel pot.

Green tea flavoured eclair, RM4.
It's a little bit sweet, but still a nice bite.
However the mocha roll (RM5.50) tasted just normal, nothing surprised me.

I was attracted by this textured creation, called Nippon (RM4.80), which means Japan.
It's green tea flavoured bread with imported sugared bean.
The bread skin is a bit chewy (I know it looks like crunchy one), and the inner is soft.

At the background is bread loaf or they called it shokupan, which is on promotional price (RM4).
They claimed their homemade bread has no artificial colour, no preservative, and only natural ingredients are used. We are advised to consume it within 2 days, after that it needs to be refrigerated.
It's soft and fluffy, we love it!

New in town: Grafa, SS15

Nowadays, KL/PJ area started to have themed cafe, which is something I wish to happen here.
Japan, Taiwan and even Singapore has this kind of cafes mushrooming years ago.
I welcome the trend happily. =)

So here's a new member to the trend -Grafa in SS15.

They are about bicycles, cafe and design.

We order food & drinks here. Self-service please.

From table to ceiling, they pay a lot of attention on details.

Brownies (RM4), caramel latte (RM7.90) and cappuccino (RM6.90)
Very nice coffee that we didn't even have to add sugar!

There's a compound for them to pursue their hobby -playing with fixed gear bikes.

There's a road mirror just above the entrance of the cafe.
The whole cafe is reflected.

Grafa
No. 55, SS15/4B,
47600 Subang Jaya, Selangor.
11am – 9pm, open daily except Wednesdays.

The Haute Food Co. @ Plaza Damas

Having hearty breakfast on one fine Sunday morning is such a great thing to do.
While I usually make my own breakfast, this time I joined makan gang to enjoy the beautiful morning here in The Haute Food Co. situated in Plaza Damas KL.

Plaza Damas is a commercial area inside Sri Hartamas.
It is a busy place on weekdays. But since almost all offices are closed on Sundays, we got the privilege to have a quiet breakfast even though it's outdoor.

menu

My cappuccino (RM7.50) and Chenyee's English breakfast tea (RM6.50).

My toast & ommelette with mushroom and cheese, RM11.90. Yummy~

 A friend's order.

Cooling cucumber drink. Such a nice sip to cool down during hot weather~

Another friend's club sandwich with beef served on chopping board.
With her hot drink. It's flat white.

cute drawing. They have different ones to put on every tables. =)

Isn't it enjoyable to have nice breakfast with a bunch of friends?
