Mogu Cafe 蘑菇,Taipei

We love the concept in Mogu.
The simplicity, the warmth and the gratitude.

We did make sure we will eat the '一碗饭' (a bowl of rice) when we in Taipei.

Sourdough bagels

My bagels are puffed, like finally!
Still need to be firmer though (dough), the inside is still airy.
That's with olive on the left, 2 in the middle with cacao powder just for the marble effect, and plain ones on the right.
If you saw how my previous ones look, you will know why I'm that rejoice.
Here's the previous batch, and here's my first batch of homemade bagels.

Juice fasting

I've completed the 4-days juice fasting last month.
I'd no confident to do that when both of my sisters did that.

No solid food for 4 days? You must be kidding me, I thought.

8 bottles of juices (apple, carrot, sauerkraut and vegetables 2 bottles each), prune puree, flaxmeal and ginger tea for 4 days. Not forgetting 2 days before and after for pre-fast and post-fast.

I'm happy that I passed! And I feel good after completing that.
I'm always energetic and able to rise earlier in the morning.
I feel like having a new body and I appreciate it, so I skip junk food and processed food.
I try my best to have meatless meal.

And also I had raw food class as soon as I'd gone through my fasting. I learned how to eat well and make fermented food, which contains probiotic and is good for our gut.

I hope to maintain my passion and good habit. :)
Maybe I will try to do 1-2days fasting monthly.

Local fruits from Mari organic orchard

Fruits and vege from Mari organic orchard in Raub.
Pineapple, banana, ciku, dragonfruit and cucumber.

All very sweet but number 1 must go to pineapple!
I've never tasted pineapple as sweet as this before.

Cooking at work

My first retail job after secondary education wasn't a pleasant one, so I don't really enjoy it.
Now that I work in retail shop again as training, I've learned a lot on customer service and nutrition knowledge.
Not that I really like it now, but my perception has changed and become more open-minded.
I appreciate the experience and education I got from my colleagues and customers.

Apart from selling products, we have to reach earlier to clean the whole store, cashier job, receive good and arrange them, stock check, customer service and answering enquiries, etc.
What kinda job do I enjoy the most? Cooking meals and goods arrangement.
Yeah, we cook our own meals (we eat what we sell, how cool). ;D

Focaccia bread

After many many times of trial and error, I think I got a better focaccia today. With organic black olives and my homemade sundried tomatoes, olive oil infused with fresh rosemary (from my balcony) and also sprinkled some coarse sea salt on top. I'm happy with the result!

Plus this time I didn't put dried yeast, it's all with natural yeast.
Before and after baking.

Water kefir

I learned about water kefir in raw food class conducted by Ms Shima from Sesame Kitchen.
She came all the way from Hong Kong as my boss invited her here.

Water kefir contains probiotic that feeds the good bacteria in our gut.
It's easy to make: kefir grain and sugared water.

Sourdough with dried fig

I love both fresh fig and dried fig.
But as it's not easy to get fresh ones here, I'm as glad to have the dried ones.
Still sweet!
I used organic black mission figs for my sourdough.
My breakfast.
