Onde-onde, Waterfront @ Park City (invitation)

A big thanks to Onde-onde's manager, Mr Syed, for inviting me for the food review.
I didn't think twice to accept the invitation as I love Nyonya food! :)

Being a local cafe-like restaurant, there will be hot kopi to serve. RM2.50.
It's from a traditional family roaster from Ipoh whom Onde-onde had specially sourced for.

As the restaurant name suggested, they serve nyonya style food, including nyonya kuih.
Here they have assorted kuih to serve fresh everyday.

Japanese cucumber sour plum juice being served to KH, RM5.90.
She loves this refreshing drink very much!
That's kuih koci on the right, RM2.50 per box.

Angku kuih, available both in red and purple. RM2.50
Since we had kopi, why not we go with toast?
Yes, it's your kopitiam style grilled toast, but it's with homemade duck egg kaya & butter, RM2.80.
Special, right? :)

This is one of our favourite  - Penang style chee cheong fun with har gou, RM6.90.
I always try to unfold everything (yes, I know I'm weird) when having the chee cheong fun roll.
But for this, need no more to do that, as it's flat one!
And the sambal is great too if you love it to be spicy~

For assam laksa lovers, here's something for you!
Their signature assam laksa (RM9.90) with thick gravy, almost-translucent noodles and spicy & sour enough to make you droll~

Not forgetting one of the famous Penang food - Prawn mee a.k.a. Hokkien mee also served here, RM9.90.

How does this sound -special fried rice + nyonya curry laksa combo for RM15.90?
A great deal to taste different food in a set, and also an easier choice for sharing with your companion(s). Also included in the combo is 'muah chi', 'bangkuang char' and otak-otak popiah to taste.

Sago Gula Melaka, RM4.90.
It's always my first choice as dessert whenever I'm in Nyonya food restaurant.

Last but not least, the star of the restaurant is here!

Attention to all durian lovers:
It's the signature Onde-onde durian cendol (RM7.90)!
If you think this is huge enough, mind you that the actual portion is much bigger.
Just check out the previous photo for the black bowl which is used for nyonya curry laksa.
THAT's the size.

And the real (YES!) and fresh durian flesh is served here.

Some other kuih and paste selling in Onde-onde too.
I bought Kapitan curry paste (RM5.90) as I couldn't resist the nice smell of it.
Yeah I love curry!

Baci for take-away

After my first visit to Baci last 2 months, I was here again to grab my lunch and rush to somewhere else.

They have a picture for the black frame, finally.
Check the previous post and you will know what I mean. :)

 Cappuccino, RM7.90.
Not bad, but presentation wise, er, could they have a better cup design for this?

My lunch is ready to go!

I had very vege sandwich, which I opted for ciabata. RM9.90.
A very big portion, but it's so delicious that I just finished them all!

Lavender -L. table, 1 Utama

It's been awhile that me and Mw had meal together.
So when she called up to date me for lunch on a weekday, I was promptly agreed to that, and after a few thought, we decided to meet up in 1 Utama.

We were wondering where to eat, so we just walked and walked until we saw this.

We had a quick look at the menu and made our decision to dine in within 2 seconds. ;P

We were presented with newspaper-like menu.

 They even have wine collection.

It's great to bring in sunlight in a shopping mall lot.

Seeing the front entrance, also with pastry corner there.

My cappuccino and mw's latte as background.

My portobello mushroom burger, the best that I had so far.
The mushroom was being fried, so it's crunchy at the outside, but still maintaining the juiciness of the mushroom. I love it!

Mw's tuna and avocado sandwich. Also tasted good with the toasted foccacia.
Don't be fooled by the portion, Mw already feel full before she could finish it.

The price is on a higher range as for a cafe cum bakery.
Nonetheless, it's no doubt that the ambiance is great and the food we had was great too.

Nagomi Shabu-shabu Buffet promotion (invitation)

Yes, you see it right - Shabu-shabu buffet for RM32.80++ per person (exclusive of drinks).
Want clearer info?

Here you are.

The promotion started already, with one extra surprise -Shabu-shabu buffet customers at Menara Hap Seng's outlet can get Carlsberg bucket for RM30++ only !

A special thanks to Ivy for the food review invitation here, I was excited as I love Japanese food!

Let's have a tour before sitting down to enjoy the meal.

VIP room.

Let's check out the food selection.
All sorts of sliced meats such as duck, chicken, lamb and beef are ready to be served.

As a fan of Japanese food, tamago yaki is not something new to me, but I couldn't stop having a lot of them that night! They are always yummy~ ;P

Of course, you can find sushi here too, with fresh ingredients.

Assorted soup pastes and sauces were nicely displayed.

Here's the star of the night - live baby lobster!
They were so 'lively' that some even crawled out of the container~
And we were lucky as it is not available every day.

If you are not a meat lover like me, check out the fresh vegetables section.

These are a must for shabu-shabu a.k.a. Japanese style steamboat.

 Fresh fruits are also available.

For desserts.

So shall we start now? :)
 Here's our personal shabu-shabu pot.
It's easy to handle as the temperature setting is only 1-2-3 for you to select.
The size of the pot is just nice for one person use, not too big till you need longer time to boil your soup or encourages you to put in too much stuffs before you found that your food is overcooked.
We were served with cold green tea that night. Fresh juice is also available.
We were greeted by Debbie, the cute Marketing Manager of Nagomi.
She explained to us about the promotion they are having now before we start feasting on the food.

I started my meal with sushi, sashimi, tofu and pickled ginger while waiting for my soup to boil.
I had loads of sashimi too, the fish was so fresh that you can taste its natural sweetness by eating raw.
For SY a meat lover, he had tried all types of meat - sashimi, duck, beef and lamb.
His favourite was the lamb meat.

From here you can the selections of seafood - lobster, tiger prawn, flower crab, oyster, mussel and clam.

Other than the original soup, we can have other soup pastes to be added in too, like
  • Kimuchi paste
  • Ginger paste
  • Spicy Miso Toban paste (Japanese bean paste)
I didn't add in other any paste as the original soup is already good enough for me, so that I can have a real taste of the fresh ingredients they offered.

8-9pm is the happy hour that you can get to eat freshly cut sashimi including the hot item, salmon!

Thanks to Debbie for receiving us with warmth and Jack Chan, the head chef of Nagomi for the food on that night.
We're certainly enjoyed ourselves very much. :)
