Bangkok Beat Bistro, Empire Shopping Gallery

Me and my sis were here during the Earth Hour (yes, that's end of March~) for dinner.
It's been quite some times we last visited Empire Shopping Gallery, plus it was not in normal operation when the explosion happened here last year.

The menu reminded me of New York New York one.

Sunday breakfast @Departure Lounge

This was the Sunday after my birthday last month, when Ms Chew met me over breakfast.
I rarely eat out for breakfast, but there's occasion when I'm happy to gather with friends and family like this.

We chose to come to Departure Lounge at Uptown as I was drooling over the breakfast menu since then.

What a lovely Sunday~

Homecook: All in savoury!

Chenyee baked savoury muffins and we also had our own way of porridge for lunch today~

 Muffins -while in the making.

What's inside?
Onion, carrot, cheese basil leaves and rosemary.

Our super mixed porridge with the leftover carrot and onion, royal red quinoa, cabbage and sesame oil (a must!).
Then along with the stirfried kacang botol (winged bean) with soy bean paste.
Yummy!

Opika, 1 Utama

Here's another outlet serving organic food, but there's a little difference in concept from Chef Lim Organic Kitchen.

It's located on lower ground floor next to Ace Hardware and also same area as Hokkaido Sushi in the newly renovated old wing of One Utama.
Apart from the cafe, it's also selling organic products from fresh vegetables to skincare stuffs.

I've been quite keen to try out their food since its opening, so when I met up with KH on one Friday, we headed there for dinner after getting her nod to dine in.

Nicely illustrated menu.

Invited review: Chef Lim Organic Kitchen

I'm quite into organic stuff since my sis works for an organic lifestyle company 2 years ago.
All the while I've been on less-meat-more-vege diet, now I'm even more conscious by eating/cooking the organic way at home.

So when I was invited by Ivy for this review, I was naturally excited for that I can sample more organic food.

It's already a mindset (at least for me) for vegetarian/ organic restaurant is normally small and with minimal interior renovation.
Chef Lim Organic Kitchen is furnished with almost all white furniture and also brightly lit, quite a difference from the others with its spacious interior.
Click on the photo above to read on their concept.
Some important points are that they do not serve the five pungent spices and egg, which is a good news to strict vegetarians.

They serve a variety of food ranged from Japanese to Western style.

Coffee from Full Of Beans

Noticing the existence of Full Of Beans in Straits Quay since its opening, but I wasn't keen to have coffee there as I thought it's just another fancy-type cafe.

After seeing a few posts by bloggers and some articles about it, only I know that they are serious about coffee, and they even do roasting themselves!

So when I was going to try their coffee when I was there last month, it's full house~

So I thought of buying their coffee bean but ended up by buying the single packet ones, as I still have a bag of coffee at home.
Next time la~

The variety of coffee in this packet of 5, for RM35.
Blue Mountain blead, special blend, Columbia, Brazil Santos and Mandheling.

So easy to prepare for my breakfast~

Watercolour Gourmet Bakery & Cafe, MK Meridin

I saw a link on a website mentioning a cafe located in MK Meridin serves good bread in town.
So I was heading to 1 Mont Kiara on one Saturday afternoon, I thought I could just drop by at this cafe before that.

Watercolour is the name of the cafe.

Some bar seats facing the road in the cafe.

They serve juice, coffee and bread.
They get the bread supply from Hiestand.

As usual, I had cappuccino as drink.
I also had almond gipfel. Nice, it's soft yet crunchy at the outside.
And the fragrance of almond~

If you dine-in, they can heat up the bread for you.

Torn between farmer bread (white bread) and kraftkorn bread (brown bread), ended up bought kraftkorn for breakfast at home.

Yeng Keng Cafe & Bar, Penang

I was in Penang with family on one weekend, and we thought of  heading to Nostalgic Cafe for dinner.
To our dismay, it was closed.

So I thought of Yeng Keng Hotel which is still reachable on foot, so we walked there.
It is reputable for its western food especialy chicken chop.

I love the ambience.

RAW -Real And Wholesome

I've been wanting to visit RAW long time ago, but it seems so near yet so far.
My plan of visiting KLCC (Kinokuniya to be exact) and RAW on a weekday is granted last Thursday, finally.

I chose to sit at the bar counter so that I can communicate with the barista.
I'm glad I did so as I had a nice chat with the young barista.

That's the young barista preparing my coffee.

 My Cappuccino.

My cuppa with my meal. Total RM25.

Mushroom & pesto panini with a side salad.

The Taiwan magazine I bought from Kinokuniya.

This is a roasting machine with a ducting out to Jalan Ampang.
The barista told me that one could smell coffee from the road whenever they do roasting.
How great is that!
