Anak Kulim Eatery & Gallery, Kulim

We opted for kampung road instead of highway driving from Sungai Petani to Kulim just to visit this small cafe in Kulim town. It's run by 3 siblings who are also, obviously, anak Kulim.

I admire their courage and passion to rebuild the space which was abandoned.
I'm sure they took a lot of effort to do that, good news for the residents (as well as outsiders) to have a nice space like that to visit and enjoy.

If not for the invitation of the owner to my sister, I wouldn't know there's such a hidden gem in the city.

 The cafe owner Damien...

...and River.

Looks like coffee laboratory?

Such a cosy and homey place to enjoy the weekend, thank you for the lovely evening and so much of coffee!

Earl Grey tea infused bread

My second try with Earl Grey tea infused bread after the 1st time being too mild.
It got a stronger aroma this time.

The left one with raisin and the other one with banana inside.
I added a teaspoon of chocolate drink powder hence the darker brown colour.

I made the dough a night before then sent to the fridge for low temperature fermentation.
I folded the dough for a few times in the morning before the final shaping.
I let them prove for another 1.5 hours before sending them to the oven.
The one with banana.

Potato rosemary sourdough

I've been baking this sourdough for 3 batches, and am still making the 4th one now.
Potato is one great ingredient for baking, I love it so much!

Closer Kitchen & Espresso Bar, Menara TSR

Thanks to the people at Closer for the recommendation.
The pasta was good!

They were using beans by Artisan Roast for the espresso based coffee.
The cake wasn't a bad choice too, but the chai latte was a little too milky for our liking.
The masala blend wasn't strong enough.

Luckily we were there a little earlier than the crowd to enjoy the ambiance,if not we wouldn't get such a cosy spot in the cafe.

Rivers drinkware

I went to Caffa at Publika last weekend and I didn't expect to buy any more equipment or tool.
I ended up bringing back not only coffee bean, but with this convenient combo -
micro coffee dripper and mug by Rivers.
I bought them at Exhibit Cafe booth at a package price.

Now I can travel with coffee in style together with my Porter grinder. ;)

Porlex mini coffee mill

Just got myself a mini grinder by Porlex.
Comparing to my old grinder, the new one is smaller in size so it's easier for travelling use.
And it's with a lid! Flying bean no more, hehe.

Sourdough & coffee, my breakfast

Such a wonderful morning to fill up the room (and my tummy) with freshly baked sourdough and great coffee!

Sourdough pancake

The easiest pancake recipe I've found- sourdough starter, coconut milk, sugar, salt and baking soda.
I don't have coconut milk, so I used almond milk instead. So fluffffyyy!

190g sourdough starter
50ml coconut milk (i replace with almond milk)
1tsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
a pinch of salt

Sourdough with oil blend

This is my kinda breakfast -sourdough with oil blend.
The oil blend is normally with flaxseed oil, avocado, wheatgerm oil and balsamic vinegar.
Sometimes I will add in black olives and nutritional yeast.

Konscious Cafe, Damansara Perdana

The first visit was good, but when I brought along more friends on the 2nd visit, it was a miss. Lucky this time/the 3rd time, it's a hit again!

Konscious Cafe offers superb raw hummus wrap and quesadilla, not forgetting the super masala chai!

Bread exchange project

Me and my another friend who loves baking was talking about exchanging bread last month, and we made it yesterday. :)

I got fougasse from her. With a nice leaf shape, the fragrance of herbs and oil was lovely.
I made mushroom soup to eat with it for dinner.

Dr.Inc, Bangsar

The weather is rather hot recently.
Although this cafe is not air-conditioned, but thank to the air well and opening, the place was airy on a Sunday evening.

I like the floor finishes.

I was sitting next to the entrance.
With the working desk and direction, I imagined I'm a receptionist. Lol.

I had black coffee and lemon poppy seed cake.
Both were wonderful.
I enjoyed the quiet moment with myself.
