Bagels & Beans, Amsterdam

I had whole wheat bagel with tuscany (cream cheese), sundried tomatoes, black tapenade, pine nuts and basil.
Everything was good, especially the tomatoes were awesome!
It's the way I like -slightly chewy and natural sweetness.

Check out the website -Bagels & Beans for more info as they have a few franchises.

Bread baking class -e5 Bakehouse

I got to know about e5 Bakehouse through a list of bakeries provided by a friend when she got to know I was going to Europe.
Browsing the webpage and found out about the baking class, I got interested in their bread baking class. I registered for it after considering that I had a loose plan and could fit it in.

I went for a Thursday class which was the second I arrived in London.
Finding it was quite easy as the bakehouse is just right beneath the railway.
So you could feel and hear the train passing in the building. ;)

I left hostel earlier to this bakehouse, so I was the first to arrive for the class.

All ingredients, weighting scale, apron and scrapper were prepared for us.

Sunday breakfast

French sourdough from Ben's Independent Grocer (The BIG Group) and Organic Adriatic Fig Spread from Whole Foods Market. My breakfast.

Bakkerij Paul Annee, Amsterdam

This is one of the bakeries recommended by some websites and travel guide books.

That basement the cat looking on is the place where they do baking.
And unfortunately they encountered with plumbing leakage there that day.
Lucky thing was the plumber came to the rescue not long after I dined in.

Their adorable cat. :)

The assorted bread and pastry on display.

I bought the gluten free cake for next day breakfast. :)

Vegabond, Amsterdam

It was my first day in Amsterdam, so I chose to walk around the city along canals to see what's on.
I walked along this street and I found a few interesting shops including Vegabond.

It's a small cafe + retail shop that specialise in vegetarian, vegan and gluten free (and some organic) food.

It was still too early for lunch, so I decided to walk around the area first.

So I came back to this shop for light lunch.
I had tempeh (fermented soybeans) cold wrap for €5.
It was good but really light meal, I still have space for other food later. ;)

Pure Markt, Amstelpark

I'm glad to be there in time for the Pure Markt on one Sunday last month.
This is a Sunday market which they change location every now and then (do follow their schedule on their webpage). It features mostly local produce and most of them are food stalls, with some handmade stuffs, natural ingredient beauty products, etc.

Screaming Beans, Amsterdam

Watch out for the loudspeaker!

Friendly staffs waiting to serve you.

I ordered single origin brewed with V60.
The barista will bring the coffee to you and brew in front of you.

The coffee was a little too light when it's still hot.
But when the temperature dropped, the flavour started to be more significant.
Nice.

Caffe il momento, Amsterdam

My first cafe of the trip -Caffe il momento on Singel.
I found it accidentally when I was walking around the area on my first day in Amsterdam.

Not many likes to sit indoor.
So I did.

They serve espresso based coffee as well as hand brew's.
And some cakes and pastries too.

Also, coffee beans and brewing equipment.
I like the unique wash basin.

I had many cups of Ethiopia during this trip, including this cup (by V60).

Just Caffe, Penang

I've not been that adventurous in exploring cafes in Penang recently.
First, they are too many. Second, I doubt every cafes are focusing on the coffee.
More like decor and display for the trend now.

For this cafe on Green Hall Road, I saw some good reviews on Foursquare.
And I like to spend some quiet time at the end of the road, which I can enjoy the breeze and view facing the sea.

I walked pass once, and I went in the second time I was there.
They serve espresso base coffee, so I had americano as usual.
They only serve light meals here.
I saw recommendation for their panini, so I had veggie lower.

 So it was good. :)
I like it here that it's not that crowded and not too fancy.
Just comfortable enough to enjoy coffee and food. And some reading is good too.

The Kitchen Table Restaurant & Bakery -Saturday light lunch and coffee time

We came around noon time.
Less crowded today so we had a good time chatting without having to shout to each other. Lol.

We chatted while indulging these good food.
New york cheese cake, coconut french toast with grapefruit, scramble eggs with toast and chicken leg with toast.

I always love to see their plant pot in front of the restaurant. But this time it's quite empty.
Got to know from one of the owner that they plan to replant.
Good then. :)

Eindhoven Saturday market

I went to visit Cheah and family in Eindhoven when I was on my vacation in Amsterdam.
It took an hour train to reach the city.

They brought me to the weekly market on Saturday morning.
Oh I love visiting local markets!

This truck/stall sells all sorts of dried fruits and nuts by weight.

I bought a bag of dried cranberries by 250g.

Selling fish, obviously.

fresh fruits!
Blackberry, red cherry and strawberry.

Eating kibbeling (those fried fish fillets) with sauce, fresh and nice!

I couldn't contain my excitement when seeing bread!

Those fat and juicy (I suppose) eggplants~
