Bread baking in rice cooker

I was curious when this thought "can I bake bread in a rice cooker?" crossed my mind a few days ago, so I browsed the web to look for it. And I found people actually attempted and succeeded.

So I don't wait, just do la!

I made this dough using my usual sourdough sandwich loaf recipe, only substitute coconut oil with red palm oil from Terra Farm.

I made the dough a day before then put in the chiller overnight.
The first thing I did once I woke up was to take out the dough, oil the pot and put the dough in.

After about 1.5 hours, the dough expanded and I started the power.
As there's minimal fluid in the pot (if you understood how a rice cooker works) the cooking mode went to 'keep warm' mode in a few minutes time. So I had to place a spoon to hold onto the cooking mode.

Half an hour later I smelled something already, so I had to flip the dough over to cook the other side. That was my first mistake -the dough was sticking to the pot. So I had to put baking paper after that.

I switched to 'keep warm' mode after a while ( I lost count of the time), but the total cooking time was near to 2 hours.

The pot situation, lol. Luckily it's stainless steel so it' easy to clean.

I poked the dough with chopstick and it came out clean, that's how I determined it's well cooked already.

I let it cool down for an hour before slicing.

Not bad for my first experiment with rice cooker, it's imperfect but it's cooked though.

I will sure continue experimenting when thoughts come by again.

Thanks for watching!
